Whether you’ve just stumbled across our site or are one of our oldest customers, let us walk you through our online shop. Created in 2020, this site is the online extension of our Bloomsbury Gallery. We aim to share with you beautiful pieces of ancient art that leave you inspired and educated.
Our Bloomsbury Gallery has been recently refurbished, and re-opened in mid-June. However, our online shop will still include a large variety of pieces, that you can come and see in person in our gallery should you want to.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I PURCHASE ARTEFACTS ON YOUR SHOP?
Our online shop works like most others. Browse the pieces through either the Full Catalogue or the introductory Collections page. Once you’ve found an item you like, add it to your basket, and the website will guide you through the purchase. If you prefer to buy over the phone give us a call and we can process orders over the phone. Our opening hours for such purchases are 9am to 5:30pm BST.
WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS DO YOU HAVE?
If you purchase through the online basket your two payment options are Paypal or Credit/Debit Cards through Stripe. You do not need an account to use Stripe, it just makes your payment extra secure. If you purchase over the phone we take most credit or debit cards and process the payment through a card machine.
HOW IS SHIPPING CALCULATED?
When you buy with Pax Romana your orders are always handled by our very own white-glove shipping department in South London. We understand that organising your own shipping when you purchase Antiquities can be an unnecessary stress. This is why we have invested in our shipping team.
By making connections with local and global high quality couriers, we believe we offer you an unbeatable service. Our main shipping partners are DHL-Express and Deutsche Post, and we also use a local south London expert in packing for large and particularly fragile items. We will always endeavour to charge you a low rate, whilst ensuring your antiquities are as safely packed as possible.
We aim to ship all gallery pieces the next working day, but large items can take slightly longer. Additionally, there are some global delays due to COVID-19 that we do our best to navigate and inform you of.
WILL I HAVE TO PAY CUSTOM FEES?
When buying antiquities, different countries have different rules about their importation. Therefore, all antiquities we ship are accompanied with the relevant paper work to ensure a smooth journey through customs. Many countries don’t request custom charges – including the US and Canada. However, since the UK’s departure from the European Union, many European countries require the receiver to pay custom fees. This charge should be between 5% and 10%. Please get in touch if you have any specific questions, and we’ll do our best to help you.
HOW DO YOU PROVE AUTHENTICITY?
We understand that when purchasing antiquities you may well be anxious about a piece’s authenticity. Be rest assured that we only sell artefacts that have been examined by our team of experts and have been found in their opinion to be genuine. Each artefact comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. However, if you’re interested in only the best, look at our items that have the best provenance or come with scientific authenticity tests.
Want to know more about authenticity? Why not look at the authenticity page on our Auctions site where we run you through our full authenticity procedures.
